The AI Role Impact & Skills Map helps HR and people leaders redesign work without treating an entire job as automatable or unchanged. It looks at the tasks moving, the human strengths that become more important, and the support employees need to adapt.

Plan reskilling from real work

Map which tasks are changing now, then name the human capabilities worth protecting: judgment, trust, empathy, domain context, creativity, and accountability. Identify the specific skills people need to build and the time, tools, coaching, policy, or career clarity the organization must provide.

The output is a grounded reskilling plan rather than a generic list of AI courses. It also reveals where role expectations changed faster than job design or support.

How to facilitate

  1. 1
Include employees. People closest to the work see task changes and hidden workload first.
  2. 2
Separate tasks from roles. Avoid labeling whole jobs as replaced or protected.
  3. 3
Connect skills to practice. Every learning need should have a real work scenario.
  4. 4
Add organizational support. Reskilling cannot be an individual responsibility alone.

When to use this template

Use this map for workforce planning, role redesign, team restructuring, learning priorities, manager conversations, or before scaling an AI tool across a function.
