Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest retrospective tool for a team?
Nextretro's free plan has no limit on boards or participants, so a team can run every retro without paying. For paid plans, flat team pricing is cheapest once a team has more than a handful of people: Nextretro Pro is $16.67/month on annual billing whatever the team size, compared with $80/month for 10 people on Parabol's $8 per active user plan.
Which retrospective tools have a free plan?
Nextretro (unlimited boards and participants), Parabol (2 teams, 10 meetings a month), Neatro (up to 10 members, 30-day history) and EasyRetro (1 public board a month) have permanent free plans. TeamRetro and Retrium offer 30-day trials instead. Spreo does not list a free plan.
Is flat or per-user pricing better for retrospectives?
Flat pricing is usually better, because retros work best when everyone joins, including guests and occasional participants. Per-user plans make each extra participant cost more. Per-user pricing only wins for very small teams of two or three people.
Which retrospective tool works with AI assistants like Claude or Cursor?
Nextretro has a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, so MCP clients such as Claude, Cursor and Windsurf can create boards, read cards, summarise themes and update action items with the permissions of the signed-in user.
Do participants need an account?
Not on Nextretro: participants join a board from a shared link without signing up. Most per-user tools require each participant to be a member, which is what they bill on.
